What’s the Most Important Thing in your Baby’s Room???

baby

So congrats, practically as soon as you see the confirmation that you are pregnant your mind goes to visions of the nursery, baby’s first room. You are thinking about decor, patterns of bedding, trying to find that perfect chair. You want to make sure that the paint colors are just right. You spend hours and hours pintrest-ing and searching for cute ideas that you just have to do.

What is the most important thing in your new baby’s room? The monitor? You’ve heard about weirdos hacking into the video monitors right? The crib? Make sure the slats all adhere to the most recent safety guidelines. The mattress? You want to make sure all the toxic chemicals in the mattress are not seeping out for your baby to breathe. The paint? From the color to the sheen to the application, who will do this, since as a pregnant mama you are not to apply it yourself. The diaper genie? How will you store the dirty diapers, like a million a day? And on that note, what type of diapers will work best for you? The chair? You think you’ll spend a lot of time in this chair holding and nursing the baby, when you actually will hardly sit in it(at least I never did). The perfect soft toys to sit on display? What should you register for and where? What if I told you that there is something much more important. Location and address. Now I don’t mean geographical as in where your home is. I mean that the room you are obsessing over is actually your baby’s second room.

And yes all those things I mentioned above are important choices you will have to make. Yet the first room, in it’s entirety, is the most important thing. And that first room is you.

Everything I mentioned above belongs in baby’s second room, the room they will have when they are Earth side. You are the first room. You are the place they will grow for 9 months. So when you are thinking about prepping for a baby make sure that you are cleaning up and preparing that room. That is the one that needs to most attention. I know it feels harder because you can’t see the room or all the hard work, yet your baby will be aware of everything that you do. Clean up the foods you are eating and aim to eat real foods. Understand what products you are using in your life, be it medication, personal care products, cleaning products, and check them all for safety during pregnancy. Many of the personal care products out there are not safe for pregnancy. If you have time before you become pregnant work with a nutritional therapist to address any nutrient deficiencies you may have, which will directly impact your baby’s first room. If you currently are pregnant, from this very minute you can make changes to support the vibrancy and health found in this first room.

Comment below and let me know what you are doing to impact baby’s first room.
