We’ve learned a lot! Phew!
Now let’s get to action. It is our responsibility to protect our children so they CAN be optimal and thriving. So, let’s dive in! (Some of these links are affiliate links. Thank you! Helps me put food on our table.)
FOOD
First and most important part- give them more nutrient dense foods. Help their bodies get the building blocks they need!
Start making sure you offer more nutrient dense foods.
- Bone broths- use even when making rice in place of water.
- Fermented foods- sour kraut, kombucha (watch sugar in store bought versions)
- Meats- organs, darker meats (thighs always over breasts) bone in and skin on is even better.
- Raw milk and raw dairy- find a local farmer near you HERE
- Traditional sour dough as the only bread option
- Veggies serves with butter
- Butter, tallow, lard and other traditional fats
- Eggs!
- Properly prepared grains (soaked)
Here are a few great cookbooks that have recipes for traditional ancestral foods: HERE, HERE and HERE. Also HERE and there are so many more if you look for traditional _____ cuisine, from Irish to British, to Mexican and more.
Fource of nature- find their meat HERE– Mix in with tacos and chili. They wont even know the organs are mixed in.
Look for local farms near you and get organs, bones and meat from them. This is a big one! Support people in your community and plus you can visit the farm yourself. You can also order online through great farms like these: HERE, HERE and HERE.
Pluck- an organ powder that you can sprinkle on popcorn, salads and more HERE
Supplements of desiccated organs: HERE and the oysters from HERE.
Bone broth protein powder HERE
Bonafide is a great real bone broth and can be found in the freezer section of select grocery stores. This is the only one I’ve found that when cold it giggles like jello, the mark of real bone broth.
BODY
Next, let’s make sure that their body is helping itself. They say that the best orthodontist is the tongue. So let’s make sure it is doing what it should!
Check out this book: Breathe HERE and it mentions using this: Mouth tape- there are many options for this. Make sure it is done safely and can be easily removed. Proper breathing and tongue placement is simultaneously one of the most important parts to this puzzle. (Along with nutrients!!)
Myobrace HERE – Their motto, “Straight teeth without braces.” It is different mouthguards by dentation and need (baby teeth, mixed dentation and all permanent, narrow mouth, high palate, etc.) that you sleep in and it helps to push on the palate where the growth areas are. This helps to create more space for the teeth and many align naturally.
Myofunctional therapy- this pairs really well with the Myobrace. Some kids need proper tongue movement and posture, lips and more- this is an individual therapy done in person with a specialist. Colorado peeps- I got one to recommend you- She’s wonderful. REPLY to me for her details.
ENVIRONMENT
As we’ve learned blue light can majorly disrupt growth within the brain. So we want to mitigate what we can. Here’s how:
Lightbulbs: Change these out in their bedrooms and even areas that they are in the evening. HERE and HERE. For the rest of the house HERE
Night light: HERE– Important for littles. Motion sensor, so it is not always on.
Reading light: HERE– We love this one. You can read for as long as you like and still not affect your sleep.
Alarm clock: HERE – wake up by supporting your circadian rhythm.
Blue light blocking glasses: HERE Psst- the ones that work are orange or red lens. The cheap ones from Amazon that are clear – will not work for this purpose. Wear these in the evening, while using any screens before bed. Do not drive in these (duh).
There is a lot that you can do to give to support our health. This is a large list, don’t get over whelmed, just pick one area to start and stick with that until you’ve got it down. It can take months for that to be really solid and that is okay. Health is a journey not a destination. Just start!
