Week 1: What Could Braces Mean?

Braces aren’t a right of passage, they are a sign of nutrient deficiency.

There I said it. Don’t shoot me.

Let’s take a little deviation and look at this short video on cats…yes it matters- it actually matters a lot! Watch video on youtube HERE . It is only 15 mins- one of the best 15 mins of your life you will spend watching something- did I mention this matters?

Well what if I were to tell you that humans are on the same path?  Check out these two books for more info on all this!!

  • The first is the most life changing book By Westin A Price himself: Nutrition and Physical Degeneration Get it HERE.
  • And how the cat video connects to human health, check out this one:  Pottenger’s Prophecy.  Get it HERE

Okay now that we have set the scene and you are going to look into all this amazing info. I’ll give you the cliff notes version.

  • Price found that tribes who ate their cultural  ansectrial foods grew into perfect specimen of humans and those who ate modern convenience foods (*white foods) had smaller jaws, crooked teeth, cavities and even smaller ocular regions on their skills (Where the eye ball sits)
  • The ancestral foods that are common to that geographical area varied by area. but were consistent in that these were very nutrient dense foods that provided the building blocks for perfect humans.
  • Have you even wondered how indigenous tribes, (who stay true to their ancestors way of eating) have perfect teeth and smile. While American children who many of them have access to a middle class lifestyle are riddled with stunted growth, small jaws and very crooked teeth?

*(White foods- white processed cane sugar, processed white flour, white breads etc.)

Some good news as we saw in Pottenger’s Cat’s it takes about 4 generations to get to extinction and it takes 4 -7 generations to reverse it back to perfect genetic expression.  As humans we are probably well into the 4th generation, which may be part of the reason why we are seeing the current fertility crisis in the younger generations.  However, WE can turn it around for our future grandchildren and so on.

Back to the point as hand, crooked teeth are a sign of nutritional deficiencies. The body is not receiving what it needs to grow the jaws larger to fit the adult teeth that are coming in. This really becomes noticeable as we reach the pre-pubescent and puberty years.

The top jaw is the leader here by getting signals from the tongue to expand and then it pulls on the nutrient storage to build a larger jaw. The bottom jaw is essentially “floating”  and it will mirror the growth of the top jaw.  As we’ve learned this is a multi-step process.

1. The tongue needs to be in the proper position and pushing on the pallet pressure point to stimulate growth.

 2. The child’s breathing needs to be proper breathing (through the nose, not the mouth) at all times, day and night.

3. The child needs to be eating a very full nutrient dense diet so the body has what it needs to grow well. (more on this in weeks 2 and 3)

Today it seems that more and more children are needing an expander to push the jaw to grow. How to they breathe?  Are they growing or on the shorter side?  Do they eat a Standard American Diet (SAD) which we’ve seen doesn’t lead on a positive path?

Dr. Price pointed this out in his well documented book back in the 1920’s, 100 years later we are doing more and more interventions and the root of the issue is sadly left unaddressed.  Often the children who are given expanders are not on the top end of growth, they are in the middle to low side of growth, the biggest question could be. “Why aren’t they growing at a rate comparable to many of their peers?”

As always there are cases of outliers, I am merely only pointing out the connection that can be seen in many out of the whole. Some industries that straighten teeth are booming, while we are not seeing booming health in our children in America. Asking questions never hurt anyone. Let’s dig in deeper! Check out the next 2 blog posts for the rest of this series.
